Synopsis
John Jasper is an aspiring young composer who works in a performing arts faculty at a university as a répétiteur. Frustrated in his attempts to realise his dream while holding onto his day job, his circumstances suddenly change when he is tasked with adapting an opera into a musical.
Unexpectedly, Jasper finds himself falling for a colleague assigned to help him in the adaptation of the opera and momentarily his career aspirations stop taking centre stage.
But the push and pull of competing urges, coupled with self-destructive tendencies, lead to a series of transgressions. Boundaries blur between art and life, taboos are ignored and ultimately, tragedy follows.
Jasper is forced to reckon with his recent past but when the opportunity of a lifetime presents itself, he struggles to act. Eventually, Jasper must decide what price he is willing to pay to realise his dream; who or what is he willing to sacrifice?
